What sets EDCMT apart as a treatment center?

What Makes the Eating Disorder Center of Montana Truly Different

At the Eating Disorder Center of Montana, we often hear from people who have experienced larger, more traditional treatment settings. Many of them tell us they were looking for something smaller, more personal — a place where they could feel truly seen.

We understand that recovery is deeply personal work. That’s why we’ve built our programs with connection, safety, and individualized attention at the heart of everything we do.

Small Groups, Big Connection

Our groups are intentionally small.

This allows each person the space to speak, reflect, and connect without feeling lost in the crowd. We’ve found that smaller groups help foster a sense of safety and trust — the kind that allows for honest conversations and deeper healing.

When everyone in the room feels heard, it becomes easier to show up authentically and support one another through the ups and downs of recovery.

A Low Staff-to-Patient Ratio

We also keep our staff-to-patient ratio small on purpose.

This gives our therapists, dietitians, and support team the time and energy to really get to know each person. It means we can notice small changes, adjust care as needed, and provide more consistent support throughout the recovery process.

We never want anyone to feel like just another name on a chart — we want you to feel known and cared for.

On-Staff Medical Provider

Having a medical provider on our team helps us care for the whole person.

Because eating disorders affect both physical and mental health, it’s important that medical and therapeutic care work hand-in-hand. With our medical provider on staff, we can closely monitor health and safety while also maintaining a compassionate, collaborative approach to recovery.

It’s one more way we make sure our clients don’t have to navigate this process alone or piece together care from multiple places.

The Power of Peer Support

We believe deeply in the healing power of community.

At EDCMT, peer-to-peer support is woven into our culture — not just something that happens in groups, but something that naturally develops as clients connect with one another.

There’s something uniquely powerful about sharing space with people who truly understand. Our clients often tell us that the friendships and understanding they find here become a cornerstone of their recovery.

A Whole-Person Approach

Every person’s story is unique, so every treatment plan should be too.

Our work is rooted in the belief that recovery happens when we care for the whole person — body, mind, and spirit. Alongside therapy and nutrition support, we incorporate creative and mindful practices such as art, music, yoga, and laughter to help people reconnect with themselves.

As a locally owned and nonprofit treatment center, we’re also deeply committed to making care accessible and reducing barriers whenever possible.

In Closing

We know that eating disorder treatment is not one-size-fits-all.

Our goal has never been to be the biggest program — it’s to be a place where people feel safe, connected, and supported as they do the hard work of healing.

If you’re looking for a treatment environment that values authenticity, connection, and individualized care, we’d love to walk alongside you on your recovery journey.
